On June 6 and 7, 2024, the kick-off event for the “Chipdesign Germany” initiative, a new network funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to promote microelectronics in Germany, took place in the listed Royal Stables of Leibniz Universität Hannover.

PD Dr.-Ing. Frank Hannig and Dominik Walter presented the 64-core chip ALPACA developed at the Chair of Hardware-Software-Co-Design of ESI speaker Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Teich as part of the event. Visitors were able to see in action how the chip processes camera images live and in real time and also discuss in-depth aspects of both the chip design and the application mapping (compiler).
